·         Mute Swan Cygnus olor cobs’ (males – adult females are known as ‘pens’) will fiercely protect their young cygnets against intruders including geese. This contest is decidedly uneven although actual physical contact is rarely made. The aggressive posture with wings raised is known as ‘busking’. Six of the seven cygnets appear to have hold of the same strand of water weed in the first picture.
