(or Common)
Newt Lissotritron
vulgaris tadpole with its feathery external gills. The remaining
images show the adult or sub-adult newts in terrestrial settings (in which
they are often mistaken for lizards). The spectacular flash coloration of
a breeding male is illustrated in the penultimate picture.
